ST. LOUIS, MO —
Police sources say a deadly shooting outside a midtown funeral home might have been the result of an argument between mourners. Two victims were dead, one was in critical condition and police say they were unable to locate a fourth person who witnesses said was shot in the leg.

"It's just completely appalling," said Chief Dan Isom, St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.

The shooting happened at Noon on Tuesday outside the Reliable Funeral Home on Washington just east of Vandeventer.

The funeral was for David Davis. He was murdered on November 19th. Police say they have leads in the case but an arrest was never made.

His parents left in tear and were escorted out of the funeral home by police.

"You've got family members who are trying to lay their loved ones to rest and you start firing out in front of the funeral it's just completely outrageous and unacceptable so we're going to do everything we can to hold the people who have done this accountable," said Isom.

At first police believed the shooting was the result of an on-going, gang-like feud. Now they are also looking into the possibility the shooters were at the funeral.

One witness who did not want his name used described the scene as chaotic.

"We were just here to visit his body you know and all this shooting crap just starts going off and it's just sick I don't understand."

Police said they were looking for 3 shooters and were taking precautions to try and stop any possible retaliation.

"We're working closely with the districts' special operations teams to try and identify who are the shooters and where they may have come from," said Capt. Mike Sack, commander of the crimes against persons and property unit for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
