LONDON (AFP) – West Bromwich Albion defender Jonas Olsson could be out of action for up to six weeks with an Achilles injury, manager Roberto Di Matteo confirmed on Friday.
The news that the club's Swedish vice-captain could be sidelined until mid December is a big setback for the Baggies as Olsson has been a key figure in their fine start to the campaign in the Premier League.
"With Jonas, we're looking at a longer injury - rather than a few weeks," said Di Matteo. "I would like to keep it down to weeks, but it won't be two weeks. It will definitely be around the five or six-week mark.
It can improve dramatically but he's not going to be back within two weeks, that's for sure."
Leading scorer Peter Odemwingie could be in contention to return in Sunday's home clash against Manchester City after being sidelined for a month with a knee problem.
Odemwingie, on target four times this season, has returned to training but midfielder James Morrison remains doubtful with his knee setback.
