What's up with the bar code?

How come we have bar code next to our names? Why is some has more, and less bars? I feel like a can of tuna sitting in a supermarket with two more weeks of shelve life! And what will happen if your bars is full?

And i guess when the bar is full we get a bigger crown to match our bigger head..
