I want to install a version of XP one of my friends made, but I need to format my Harddrive first. How can I do this (I have Vista) without a windows disk?

I've borrowed a camcorder and red 1394 cable, but the small end only connects to either the camcorder or the laptop--the larger, flat end looks like a USB plug but does not fit the port. What goes where?!

I used my recovery discs to "wipe and erase data" which basically cleaers the whole internal harddrive. I thought I could jus use my recovery discs to re install windows but it does not read any recovery discs.

I while ago (a couple months) I permanently deleted some files of of my harddrive. I know the difference between the recycling bin and DELETED, just to let you know. I am running Linux (Ubuntu 9.10) if that helps at all.

I know that putting something in the recycle bin and emptying it gets it out of my sight, but I also know that info remains on the harddrive even after this happens.

I saved my outlook files to my memory stick then back to my hardrive on the computer. I had reinstall the operating system. Now I reinstalled everything and want to move those saved contacts on my harddrive or memory stick back to Outlook.
