DISH Debuts DTV Box, Programming Packages

DISH Network announced two solutions for consumers preparing for the upcoming digital TV transition, set for Feb. 17, 2009.

For starters, the company unveiled the TR-40 CRA, an entry-level, digital-to-analog converter box, on Wednesday. The TR-40 CRA qualifies for the federal government's TV Converter Box Coupon Program.

The box sells for $40, and with that price point the coupon essentially covers the box's cost.

Also, consumers can sign up for DISH Network's recently-introduced American or Latino Welcome Packs, featuring 20 channels for $9.99 a month, or $14.99 for locals if available in the area. The packages offer 20 channels.

For $19.99 a month (and an additional $5 for local channels), DISH customers can subscribe to the DishFAMILY package and receive more than 40 channels, plus free installation and activation, the company said.
