The memory cache in Windows XP determines the size of system files. The memory cache increase is typically appropriate only if a computer is used as a server to enhance file transfers. It is achieved by the activation of the System Cache option in the Control Panel.
Instructions

Log in to the Windows XP administrator account and click "Start." Click "Control Panel" and switch to the "Category" view on the left panel. Then click on "Performance and Maintenance."

Click System > Advanced. Under Performance, click Settings > Advanced.

Under Memory Usage, select the radio button "System Cache" and click "OK." Click "OK" again to restart the computer.
