Intelsat Reports 3Q, Details DIRECTV Latin America and MLB Deals

On Thursday, commercial satellite operator Intelsat reported third quarter revenues of $598.5 million and a net loss of $179.3 million.
For the three-month period the company announced a series of deals that it said provides a boost for its business.
For starters, Intelsat said the DirecTV Group signed a renewal agreement for capacity supporting the satellite TV company's platform in Latin America. The renewal extends the capacity commitment on the Galaxy 3C satellite through its projected end of life in 2020, the company said.
Also, the MLB Network, Major League Baseball's full-time high-def and standard definition network, selected Intelsat as its satellite distribution platform. The channel is projected to debut in about 50 million cable and satellite homes on Jan. 1.
