New facility open for AMF JTRS testing
SAN DIEGO, (UPI) -- Lockheed Martin has opened a state-of-the-art facility in California to test next-generation radio communications systems for warfighters.
The products tested would be for the Airborne & Maritime/Fixed Station Joint Tactical Radio system, a secure Internet-Protocol network that will provide non-line-of-sight communications in real time.
"Lockheed Martin opening this test facility is a visible demonstration of our commitment to our customers and to the success of the AMF JTRS program," said Mark Norris, vice president for Lockheed's Joint Tactical Network Solutions. "We will leverage this facility to ensure that the AMF JTRS equipment is fully compliant with all JTRS operational requirements."
The company said team members at the facility in San Diego will check various system-level requirements, including performance parameters of several configurations of radio systems before a decision is make on low-rate initial production of the equipment.
The Lockheed Martin team in the program includes BAE Systems,General Dynamics, Northrop Grumman and Raytheon, the company said in a news release.
