The Details Behind EchoStar's Mexico Satellite Partnership

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What are the details behind EchoStar's efforts south of the border?

On Tuesday, EchoStar and MVS Comunicaciones, a media and telecom conglomerate in Mexico, announced the formation of a joint venture called Dish Mexico. The effort will launch "Dish," a satellite TV service that will be available to consumers across the country.

The service will be delivered via the EchoStar 4 high-powered satellite located at 77 degrees. A small satellite dish antenna and a digitally encrypted set-top box from EchoStar also will support the offering.

The Dish service is expected to launch initially in the cities of Puebla and Leon and will be available across Mexico in the next few months, EchoStar said. The basic Dish service includes 25 Spanish and English-language channels.

The effort has an established customer base. MVS Multivision's existing MASTV service will bring more than 570,000 customers to the joint venture. The Dish service will use the existing MASTV infrastructure positioned in 11 cities to provide sales, billing and collection, installation and customer service, the companies said.
