Why does my LCD monitor have a display driver? Why do I need a display driver? What does the display driver do?

I have a old LCD monitor about 4 years old and it came with a driver but windows finds the driver for me and installs it.Now on vista there is no driver for my LCD in the updates. I can find my driver if i google it. Image seems no different with or without driver.Whats the point of a display driver for an LCD?

Vista, like XP, is using a generic driver for your monitor. Honestly, don't worry about it. You should only really be concerned with the video card, display adapter, driver.(insert lengthy rant about what drivers do)Hope that helps.JMKhttp://realjobdescriptions.com

There may not be a vista driver for it.What a driver does, it alllows communication between your monitor, the rest of the computer, to take place...Without it, you may not be able to take advantage of all the features it has....and may cause conflicts..
