ASHEBORO, N.C. —
A man raking leaves in his backyard uncovered what appeared to be a hand grenade, police said in a release.
Garland Slack, of 1270 Winslow Avenue, told Asheboro Police he had found a hand grenade in his backyard while raking leaves.
Asheboro Police secured the area and have evacuated two houses.
The Hazardous Device Team of the Greensboro Police Department took possession of the hand grenade.
Asheboro Police did not say whether the grenade was live or not.
