PITTSBURGH, Albert Pujols went 3-for-5 and blasted his 399th career homer Monday, powering the St. Louis Cardinals to a 10-2 rout of Pittsburgh.
Pujols' three-run shot came in the first inning and gave the Cards a quick lead. Yadier Molina added an RBI single later in the frame and St. Louis eased to a victory in the first of three games at PNC Park.
Molina finished with three hits and a pair of RBI and John Jay chipped in with two hits and a run driven in for St. Louis, which posted its third straight win.
Kyle Lohse (2-5) went 5 1/3 innings to pick up his first victory since May 17 for the Cards, who entered the contest in second place, 3 1/2 games behind Cincinnati in the National League Central.
Pirates starter Ross Ohlendorf (1-11) was removed from game with an apparent shoulder injury after facing only two batters. Sean Gallagher replaced him and promptly surrendered Pujols' homer.
