My Pixma ip3300 won't recognize my PGI-5 black ink cartridge. It was working well for some time and all of sudden (I just refill it) the cartridge isn't recognized. When I take it out and reinstall it the cartridge lamp goes on, but when the printer resets itself the indicator lamp goes out. I have also turned the printer on and off and even press the RESET button for 5 seconds...nothing works. Any advice would be appreciated to get it fixed.

have you got the right ink cartridge for the right printer?? some makes are very similar in shape and size.also are you putting it in the correct way round?have you taken the plastic protection strip off the cartridge??simple troubleshooting... but if all else fails, read your manual

If you turn on your computer, hold the stop/cancel button for 5 seconds, a window should appear on your screen "do you wish to turn off your iunk gauage" click yes. Failing that consult the manual for your printer and look up "how to turn off ink gauge", this should most definetely solve your problem.

First, make sure you didn't get any ink on or around the little green chip. If it's dirty, clean it with a moist cloth.Try to send a print job to the printer. You will get all kinds of error messages, keep on clicking "continue printing" or "yes, I want to print" options, (I think they ask you three times and throw in a couple of scary warnings about refills damaging your printer). The software will prompt you when you need to hold the reset button. This method works for ALL the newer Canon Pixmas with the PG and CL cartridges
