My question is last week my dad unplugged the CS6000 power cord while it was still on then when i tried to turn it on only a little read light flashes on the display and that's all it does do i need a new receiver or is there a way to fix it any help and comments is appreciated

Thanx in advance

How to check for dead CS6000

Open receiver and look to see if C21 capacitor is bubbled up on top or any others as well;if so it needs replacing..very simple to do. You can get them at Radio Shack they only cost a few dollars..

If good they will be flat on top whereas if bad they will feel bubbled up/rounded on top.You can get them at any electronics parts store(Radio Shack good source)for almost nothing.Just be sure to place new one in properly with negative/positive sides facing correctly.
C21 is the primary culprit in these cases.

If the unit does infact power up then before replacing the capacitors try this:
Load factory file 1.00

If you can access menu do a database reset/factory set
Load the new bin 2.01

Do database reset/factory set once again
Now hopefully you can access full menu to reset your dish settings/options and then do a "Autoscan" of each sat with "Network Search" turned OFF

See capacitor picture below these are bubble on top they have to be flat remember...
