How do I take out and reinstall a harddrive on other computers?

I have recently recieved a computer from a friend and am wanting to take out the hard drive and install it on my current computer. I am completely clueless at this. I think theres a cage around the harddrive aswell. Anyway, can anyone provide me a link with tuts or how to's on taking out and installing a hard drive? Oh and could someone give me a link with this on RAM aswell.-Myhand
