MLB: Boston 6, Minnesota 2
BOSTON, (UPI) -- Kevin Youkilis hit a three-run homer and had four RBI Thursday in pacing the Boston Red Sox to a 6-2 decision over Minnesota.

Youkilis backed up a complete-game effort from Jon Lester (4-2), who allowed six hits and two runs while striking out nine. He did not walk a batter while throwing a mere 103 pitches.

Adrian Beltre hit a second-inning solo homer to put Boston in front and Youkilis pounded his three-run shot in the third. Youkilis also doubled home a run in the fifth.

Boston swept the two-game series and has won three in a row.

Joe Mauer and Delmon Young drove in runs for the Twins, who have lost five out of seven. Francisco Liriano (4-3) took the loss, surrendering five hits and five runs over 4 2/3.

Lester retired 10 of the first 12 batters he faced and was helped out by two double plays in the first four innings. It was the fifth complete game of his career and came after he had lost his previous three starts.
