[Noobie Question?] No instructions or usb for my VS2000 Ultra

Sorry I have spent a good bite of time on this forum searching for the answers I need...someone please point me in the correct direction or just help me please. ><
I have had this reciever for a couple of months just sitting atop my cable box staring @ me wondering would I ever hook it up. I have listen to countless hours of my boss talking about this movie or that channel so I know it works because he had 2 and gave me one but, I was under the impression you needed a dish for it to work. Well I have a Direct Tv from years ago and finally got a Dish and it still doesn't work.
I understand positioning is key but I cannot even get to that point. If anyone has a link to and installation tutorial or just the instructions that come w/ the receiver that would be great.

Go ahead and laugh @ my digital cable trappedness...I have been a slave to it....:yes:

OMG thanks man. Now lemme go do the easy stuff so I can get back to these forums...
Oh, and shouldn't I be able to use any thumb drive to load info to the receiver?
