I really need some help with this... My first reaction was to swap out the power supply with my pansat 2500 but I read about doing a JTAG? I'm not sure exactly what to do. I need some help!

There is no LEDs or signs of power on my box. It is COMPLETELY dead.

Thanks again Casper! This would be very helpful!

I'm also having problems following the directions for the 2500 to 2700 conversion.

Sorry to be such a pain.

Yes, I haven't used it in about a year, so when my 3500 died and decided to try to revive it. I'm having some problems. The GTRom Loader v3.32 keeps giving me an error message saying, "Error: Model name does not correct". The directions is a little confusing.

do you have a flash drive if so this can help...

How to flash the 2700A without deleting settings or channel list

This proceedure will keep you from deleting your antenna settings and your channel list once they are setup. I've seen this come up a number of times and thought I would post it in one place.

1. Turn the receiver off via the back switch.
2. Hook the null cable up between the pc and the receiver.
3. IMPORTANT!! Turn the receiver on via the back switch and WAIT for the receiver to boot all the way on. You should first see b-7 5 scroll across the receiver display then a quick blink 7.5 followed by On and then the last channel number that was selected.
4. Once you see the last channel number show on the receiver display then open up the loader, select the bin file and then download. Once the download complete pops up on your pc screen you should be good to go.

This will work when loading the factory bin as well. The only time you should loose the settings and the channel list is if you do a factory reset in the main menu of the receiver. You can even load the factory bin with the procedure above and once you see download complete popup on your pc screen then load the newest fix out and still not loose your settings or channel list. Hope this helps someone out.

Note: This works with the original pansat 2700A.

If your Pansat 2700 is having these issues and your racked your brain out trying to figure it out this is how to fix it.
You will have 99% level & 0 Quality.

Troubleshooting/ Inspection:
The problem is 2 capacitors that are blown. C-13 & C-14. On samaller gold circuit board that connects to power supply.

Remove your cover from your receiver.
2 screws on side.
1 small screw on back.

Now that the cover is removed, you have access to the circuit broards,
1 main green one
1 smaller gold one. This is the one to look at.
C-13 & C-14 capacitors. 460uf16V.

If they are swollen they are blown and have to be replaced. Take a look at all the others how they are flat on top. I picked them up at a Electronics store for 2 bucks a piece.

REMOVAL /REPLACEMENT:
Take the 2 screws ouit of the gold circuit board, get needle nose pliers and press in the retaining clips opposire the screws that is holding the board in. Then carefully lift it out.

Now you have access underneath, you need a soldering gun for now. Now heat up the leads and pull out the capacitors, mark down on a piece of paper in case you forget how you pulled them out the negative lead the white stripe on side of capacitor & the positive lead, so when you put Them in you put them in the same way you took them out. Make sure your pulling out the right capacitors. Before you start heating them up. Do one then the other. Once you have this done. Installing the new ones is a cinch. You will require small wire solder and paste

Before you put the new capacitors in make sure the Negative lead is in properly, there is a white stripe or a minus sign.

Now push your new capacitors in the C-13& C-14 spots in the board where you removed the old ones.

You might need a helpere as another set of hands is always nice for this part. Have them hold the capacitor tight against the board so you can solder underneath.dip your solder in the paste and come close to the wire underneath protruding to the board and it will melt like butter.

IF u cant pull out the capacitor its soldered good. This take a few seconds. then when its done. Take some nippers or tiny side cutters and clip the extra wire off. Then put the gold circuit board back in carefully. Press it down on the retaining clips, then re-install the 2 screws. Put back the cover on and your done. Now you will have level & quality.

I have a flash drive (USB Flash Drive) if that's what you're talking about. I'm a computer tech so having so much problems with this is very frustrating. I appreciate your help.

You sent instructions for the Pansat 2700 but I have a 2500 and trying to convert to a 2700. What I'm getting now is just the knight rider lights flashing across the front of the box. I tried loading some files with the BlackList STB updater and that is all I'm getting now.

I just connected my Pansat 3500 sd to my computer with the cable that came with it. I'm trying to follow the instructions that you sent me for the 3500 and I'm having a little trouble with that.

1. Do I have to use a special JTag cable or can the one that I use to load the bin files work?

2. The JTag 3500S Intel files that you posted - I'm reading the Intel readme file and it says "Start Wall_v2.0 and click on OK on the Warning Message". Whenever I click the error message the wall program closes. I'm logging in as the Administrator with administrative rights and I'm getting an error message saying, "Could not aquire I/O. Windows NT/2K users must have administrative rights." When I click OK, the program closes.

I HAVE A HUGE HEADACHE.

first be sure your com port settings are correct:
settings for com port:
on your pc press start-control panel-performance & maintenance-system-hardware tab-device manager- ports(com1) or (whatever com port#your after)-port settings tab (in the new window)-and set your baud rate to 115200

1.Don't panic,your 2500 is not broke.

2.Prepare the Unit for loading a BIN file.although, this time, leave rear switch OFF.

3.Prepare the current loader, select the factory BIN file (recommended, try first, but latest BIN file is OK also).

3.Press download on loader, next flip the rear switch of the receiver ON.
the loader should start.
(If it does, let receiver fully reboot and read ON once again.Be sure to load latest BIN file if successful, you are now finished).

4.Most commonly this will not work the first time.Try step # 3 a few more times.(if not successful continue).

5.Turn rear switch OFF,prepare loader with BIN file.Quickly flip the rear switch ON,wait for FIRST light to scroll by,and press download on loader, loader should start.
(If it does, let receiver fully reboot and read ON once again.Be sure to load latest BIN file if successful, you are now finished).

6.Repeat step #5 (completely)only wait for the SECOND light to scroll by,then try waiting for the THIRD light if not successful.

7. Repeat steps 5,6 until successful.Making sure the receiver reads ON and latest BIN is installed on your Unit when finished.

tips:
Do not give up,this WILL bring your Unit to the ON condition.
It's common to take 4-8 tries.
However,it may take up to 10 tries.possibly even more, but not common.
Be sure your using the latest loader, this will work for all boot versions.
Do not try and load old b62 factory bins to a Unit that has been upgraded to boot version 75.Or visa versa.

info:
nick named the "knight rider lights" or "knight rider" after the 80's tv series
"knight rider" due to the car KITT had scrolling lights across the front of it's hood.
A fairly common occurrence, likely to happen to anyone with a 2500 at least once.(to date,it's only happened once to me,while flashing)
It seems to happen most often while flashing the unit, though it does also happen while in use.
Some users may never see this, and to date is considered very minor.

Casper,

I had to take a break, the 2500 is still giving me the knight rider but I'm loading over and over like the directions said. What I wanted to say was your instructions gave me the fix to quote above!!! When I changed the BAUD rate I did not get that error message anymore! Thank you for everything so far. I'm sure you're gonna be hearing from me again soon. I'm still working on the 2500/2700 conversion and then I have to JTag the 3500SD.

We'll talk soon.

Thanks again.

Casper,

The directions for the Knight Rider fix is very good and self explanatory. The only problem is that I don't know which file to try loading. I don't have any pansat 2500 bin files. I tried loading a 2500 bin file.... could you direct me to where I can find the right files?

Thank you.
