hello, i have a nightmare receiver i think. i cant dl the latest bin. this receiver has been to pansat twice. once for the b75 upgrade, and the other to check to see if my rs-232 port works. i got it back from pansat. they said my serial port is ok. im using 27.02, and tryed bin 257. still wont dl.my computer is set up for com1, and im using a brand new rs-232 cable. soooooo, i wondering can i send my receiver to someone trusting to see if they can dl. it. i have a pansat 2700a

Is the receiver working? If not try this: Turn off the power using the switch on the back. Get your PC ready to load. Press the download button on the PC program to start the download process on the PC. Turn the 2700a back on from the back power switch. It should start downloading assuming there is not another issue. Let me know how it went.

yes the receiver is working. i tryed hitting dl button first, then turning on receiver, i tryed doing both at the same time. i tryed turning on box first, then hitting download. it just dont go past 0%.

Hi I am new to this FTA downloading, but when i first started I was using the wrong type rs-232 cable please make sure it is the null modem cable, and not a rs-232 straight cable

Yes I have a Pansat 2700A for the past 2yrs, when I first started I went to a local Radio Shack for a rs-232 cable, when trying to dl it would not go past 0%, after further reading I found I had the wrong cable, I called a local Satellite store in my area to see if they had a rs-232 Null Modem cable, for data transfer the cable itself has Null on the end connectors, most are usually gray in color. after getting the right cable it loaded with no problem.

after 7 months of trying, i think this is my problem. i have one on the way. i will let you know how it works out. big thanks to you guys. i will send another thanks after i test. the cable i was trying came from rshack. and i dont think it was a null modem cable.;)

i want to thank all the guys who helped me get up and running. it anly took me 6 months to figure out that i was using the wrong cable. i will give a special tumbs up to those whom stood by me. thanks again.

make sure you reboot your computer once the null modem cable is conected to computer and STB, i share my com port with plotter and programeer for alarm panels, my computer won't release the com port unless i reboot. if you share your com port you need to reboot exspaically if you share com port by just switching cables hope this helps
:D

Having the download problem. ck'd all the posts with possible problems including the RS232 cable issue. Appears that I have tried all with no success, get a Err1 write failed. When I power up display cycles through 5 , 7, 6 then shows 0267 with nothing happening. I am trying to use my laptop for the download an am connected into a USB port with a USB to Serial cable. Is this the problem.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Cheers
Jim

Not knowing what unit this is, I am going to take a stab at this and say you need a null adapter between the receiver and the STB. Most USB>Serial adapters are "straight thru" and most PC to STBs require a null RS232 configuration.

Sorry I didn't mention but it is a 2700A. I have tried both with and without the null modem cable, rebooting, the power on/off/download sequences and holding my breath until the hickups go away (sorry thats someting else). Using the Blklst Updater and the latest file (260). My laptop is a hp pavillion. As a last resort I can tke it back to the seller and get him to do it.
Cheers
Jim
