SKYVIEW MAX 2000 PVR Setup "How to".

This is a work in progress and will be refined with screen captures as we experiment more with this unit.

Remember to always have the rear power switch "off" when connecting/disconnecting any cables!

It's recommended to plug any Set Top Box power into a Surge protected Power Bar or UPS (Uninterruptable Power Supply of sufficient Wattage) source.

Getting Started

Connect your RG6 Satellite cable from your LNB or Switch to the "LNB IN" connection at the back of the Skyview MAX2000 PVR.

Connect to your TV via the Component (Y, Pb, Pr), Composite (Red, White, Yellow), S-Video (you'll have to connect the Red and White or the optical audio output (S/PDF) for audio as well) or TV/VCR Coaxial Cable Output.

Power on via the rear switch.
Let the unit Power on to the language menu.

Initial Setup

1) Select language, press OK, press green "info" button = next step
2) Select time zone, press OK, press green "info" button = next step
3) Select each satellite, press OK, press green "info" button = next step
4) Set up your Satellites via Antenna setup menu (typical as most Set Top Boxes)
5) Scan channels by arrow left/right to select sat, cursor down to "search" and press "OK" to scan

Updating Software Via USB

1) Copy latest fix onto USB Stick and insert into USB Port (located in front of unit behind flip down cover)
2) The unit automatically updates (we think it is selectable auto/manual) and message "writing program, do not power off!" appears (2MB flash)
3) When complete, message appears "download OK, remove USB device and then press any key"
4) System reboots, wait for Autoroll and watch TV.

Tips and Tricks and Other Notes

Remember the Skyview MAX2000 PVR is a relatively new unit so it is a work in progress by coders to enhance the features with each file release.

1) Using remote, press menu, navigate to user setup, options and there are settings for autoroll (select "ON" for Autoroll), BEV renumber, sort by SID, local remap, etc.
2) When changes are made in any menu, pressing the menu or exit button saves the changes, there is no confirmation prompt (nice feature).
3) We don't see an option for bev or dishnet package yet (to be added in future releases), so we're using Nimiq1, Echo7, Echo 8/10 (i.e ALL sats using the SAT button on the remote).
4) On power cycle (rear switch), there is no typical "boot" displayed on Front Panel Display. Small LED is red color while booting, then "load" appears and LED turns green color, then picture and channel number displayed
5) Autoroll takes about 3-5 minutes for Bell ExpressVU and Dish Network.
6) There is an easy way to fill the guide. Press the "Guide" button then press the red button on the remote to "Get Schedule" and the guide will fill in nice.

The Skyview MAX2000 PVR has beautiful picture quality and excellent contrast ratio with the default setting and you can adjust it to your preference in the A/V Control Menu.
