When I install a disk (cd or dvd) in computer the computer doesn't put up an action prompt on the screen. Has anyone had this problem and if nnot Rumas do you know how to fix.
Thanks

How To Enable/Disable Autorun (Windows XP)
  1. Open Windows Explorer by pressing the Windows key + "e" key or by double clicking "My Computer"
  2. Right-click the desired CD-ROM and select Properties from the menu.
  3. Select the AutoPlay tab.
  4. Select each item from the pulldown list and for the Action to perform, select "Take no action" to disable autorun, or pick the apporpriate action to take if enabling autorun.
  5. Select OK.
Post back here if this doesn't work.

It didn't seem to work. I was searching on line and someone said re-install my Windows XP program. What do you think?

Reinstalling Windows is a little extreme, and if your not sure how to configure Windows after you reinstall you will turn 1 problem in to multiple problems.

Give me some more info:
  • How knowledgeable are you with computers?
  • What type of disk(s) are you putting in your drive? Have your tried other disks?
  • Do you have all your Windows XP updates?
  • Do you have SP2 installed for your Windows XP?
  • Have you had a Virus recently? Or adware or spyware? Have you scanned your computer for any?
  • Do you have more then one CD/DVD drive install on your system?
What happeneds when you go to "My Computer" after you put a disk in your CD/DVD drive and you double click your CD/DVD Drive?

Post back with as much information as you can.

Hey Rumas, this is Farano(Hollywood). This is my Dad feehar49 I gave him this website and I am the one trying to figure this prob. out. I went into the autoplay option and it didn't work. I will keep trying.
