Please help. I just got the viewsat 7000 pvr and want to set up the internal drive. Nothing works, I have no idea which format ntfs or fat32 is used, and if I can transfer the info from my vista laptop to the harddrive via external case, then put the drive back in the pvr. Any help would be most graciously appreciated.

If i'm not mistaken viewsat pvr's use fat 16 or 32. Now depending on the size of yer hd there is size restrictions to FAT file systems. You may even have to format in DOS insted of vista. Vista will not follow the size restrictions just because it's a new OS and will work around it. I completely forget the restrictions, well it's been a really really long time.

If it is a fat32, the box can format for you. Make sure the Master jumper is selected before placing the drive into the the VS7000. Press menu, down to "Record Service", select "Hard Disk" OK then down to "Hard Disk Format", OK and you are there.

The "Record Service" has several things you will be looking for later, so keep it in mind.

In the file section, lower forum, there are several utility files you will need to connect the computer to the VS7k, including drivers.
